Devin W. Ness - Associate

Mr. Ness joined our firm after developing his skills in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, where he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Loretta A. Preska and as counsel to District Executive Edward Friedland. During his time with the court, Mr. Ness gained substantial experience working on employment dispute resolution matters as well as civil and criminal cases at all stages of disposition. While working for the District Executive, Mr. Ness drafted memoranda and advised judges and senior court administrators on a broad range of courthouse-specific legal issues, including questions of compliance, judiciary policy, local rules,  judicial and judiciary-employee conduct and ethics, and the resolution of interagency disputes. He also served as interim counsel to the court’s Committee on Grievances, for which he filed a brief in an appeal before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Mr. Ness obtained his B.A., cum laude, from New York University’s College of Arts and Science in 2007. He received his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, graduating with honors. During law school, he participated in Cardozo’s Alexander Fellows Program, completed a concentration in Constitutional Law and Rights, and served as a senior articles editor for the Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal.
